Two Chamber Members Named Finalists for 2026 Alabama Small Business of the Year Awards
The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that two local businesses have been named finalists for the 2026 Alabama Small Business of the Year Awards.
State Farm Insurance Patrick Johnson Agency P.C. is a finalist in the 1–10 Employees category, while Maverick Events, LLC is a finalist in the Emerging Business category for businesses operating less than five years. Both Decatur businesses were nominated by the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce.
Presented by the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (CCAA) and the Business Council of Alabama (BCA), the awards recognize outstanding small businesses across the state for their business success, civic involvement and contributions to their communities. The 40 finalists will be honored during the BCA/CCAA Partnership Annual Meeting on Wednesday, November 18, in Birmingham, where a winner will be announced in each category.
Earlier this year, Patrick Johnson was named the Raymon Baker–John Cook–Ralph Jones Small Business Person of the Year during the Chamber’s Small Business Awards. A lifelong Morgan County resident, Johnson has spent more than 17 years building and leading State Farm Insurance Patrick Johnson Agency P.C. while living by the motto, “Listen first, serve always.” Johnson is actively involved in the Decatur Kiwanis Club and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, where he previously served as Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors. Through his business and volunteer service, he has supported numerous local schools, nonprofits and community initiatives.
During the Chamber’s Small Business Awards, Maverick Events was selected as the inaugural recipient of funding for its “Know Your Neighbor” campaign. The storytelling initiative will feature mini-documentaries and social media content designed to inspire community pride, strengthen local engagement and highlight the people and businesses that make Decatur unique. Maverick Events received $1,000 to launch the project and will have the opportunity to receive an additional $1,000 upon its completion during the next year.
These 40 finalists embody the best of what it means to build not only successful companies but also stronger communities. The Chamber congratulates State Farm Insurance Patrick Johnson Agency P.C. and Maverick Events, LLC on this recognition and is proud to see their achievements honored at the state level.
