Decatur Ranked Among Best Places to Live in Alabama and the Nation

The City of Decatur has earned national recognition from U.S. News & World Report, ranking No. 3 among the Best Places to Live in Alabama and No. 60 nationally for 2026-27.

The rankings evaluated communities across the country based on factors including quality of life, value, job market strength, and overall desirability. Decatur also ranked No. 264 nationally among Best Places to Retire.

From a growing economy and expanding workforce opportunities to outdoor recreation, local events, strong schools, and thriving neighborhoods, Decatur continues to distinguish itself as a place where people want to live, work, and raise a family.
