Describe your organization, including the history and services you provide?
"Bank Independent is a North Alabama-based community bank with roots dating back to 1947, when local farmers and business leaders opened The Bank of Leighton after their community lost its only bank. In 1982, The Bank of Leighton and The Bank of Florence merged to form Bank Independent, and the organization has since grown across North Alabama while remaining closely held, independent, and focused on making a positive difference in people’s lives. Today, Bank Independent serves individuals, families, and businesses with a full range of financial services, including personal and business checking and savings accounts, mortgages, consumer and commercial lending, treasury and cash management services, digital banking through its mobile and online platforms, as well as a digital sales office, and wealth management services. The bank’s mission is centered on exceptional service, local decision-making, and strengthening the communities it serves."
What makes your organization stand out?
"What makes Bank Independent stand out is that we are still proudly local to North Alabama and still truly independent. Our decisions are made here, by people who know our communities, our customers, and the unique needs of the families and businesses we serve. That local, independent spirit allows us to stay focused on relationships over transactions and service over sales. We are built to serve, not to sell."
What do you see for the future of your organization?
"We see a future centered on continuing to find new and better ways to serve our customers, team members, and communities. As Bank Independent grows, our focus remains on building strong relationships, investing in our people, and meeting the evolving needs of the individuals, families, and businesses we serve. No matter how the banking landscape changes, we are committed to staying true to our purpose and creating meaningful impact in the communities we call home."
