2026 State of Morgan County Showcases Infrastructure Investment

During the conversation, Chairman Long shared updates on several key initiatives. One major focus was continued renovations at the Morgan County Courthouse. Significant upgrades are currently underway, including electrical improvements that will require a temporary courthouse closure beginning Monday, February 16. The closure is expected to last two to four weeks, with courthouse offices operating from alternate locations during that time.
Attendees also heard an update on the Morgan County Event Center in Cotaco, which is just days away from opening. The $7.2 million facility spans more than 34,000 square feet and includes two full-size gymnasiums designed for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, along with a 1,000-square-foot meeting room. Plans are also moving forward for a future agriculture center to be located near the event center.
Chairman Long highlighted a recent partnership between the Chamber and the Morgan County Commission on the “Love Where You Live” booklet, created to promote Morgan County to U.S. Space Command personnel and their families. A total of 12,000 booklets were mailed to employees in Colorado Springs as part of the outreach effort.
