Leadership Class Donates Record-Breaking Proceeds to Local Nonprofits

The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce’s 2024–2025 Excellence in Leadership class presented proceeds from its record-setting community service project on August 6 at the Chamber office.

The class surpassed its $30,000 goal by raising $32,183.09 — the most ever raised by any Excellence in Leadership class. After expenses, checks totaling $9,054.94 each were presented to representatives from three local nonprofits: Brothers for Life Benefit Fund, First Priority of Greater Decatur and Meals on Wheels.

Funds were raised through the Point Mallard Pickleball Classic, the first tournament held at the new Jimmy Johns Pickleball Center in June. The event drew more than 240 players and approximately 200 spectators over two days, highlighting the growing popularity of pickleball and the class’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community.
