May SuperStar Teacher: Celebrating Cody Bowers at Danville Middle School in Morgan County
“Cody is a great inclusion teacher and a great presence in our building. He works specifically with our special education students, but he forms relationships with every student in our building. He brings an incredible amount of positive energy to our building each day — his is catch phrase when you ask him how he's doing is ‘I'm living the dream!’ He volunteers to help his colleagues and the administration team whenever there is an issue to deal with, and always brings a calm, clear mindset to the table. He has demonstrated his willingness to be an advocate for any child in our building who needs someone to look out for them,” wrote Principal Chad Kelsoe in his nomination.
“I have been in education for 21 years and I have never seen a teacher who maintains such a positive outlook on life and a child's education as Cody has. He truly is a blessing to have as a teacher at Danville Middle School. He is so well respected on our staff that he was chosen to be our DMS Teacher of the Year this year. He never gripes, he never complains, he always seeks to help and always reframes negative thoughts of others into what a blessing they have before them. He is truly a remarkable educator.”
"I just love giving back. I had educators through my life who encouraged me, uplifted me and to give that back to these students is something I truly have a passion for. It’s just an honor to be able to do that,” said Mr. Bowers.
