Community Invited to Celebrate the Groundbreaking of South Brook
DECATUR, Ala. – Land Innovations, theDecatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Decatur invite the community to celebrate the official groundbreaking of South Brook on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 9 a.m.
The event marks the beginning of construction on the highly anticipated 80-acre mixed-use neighborhood and will feature remarks from City of Decatur leaders, project partners, and the development team, followed by a ceremonial golden shovel groundbreaking celebrating this significant milestone. Attendees will have the opportunity to view project renderings while learning more about the vision for South Brook.
Community members, business leaders, elected officials, and members of the media are invited to join in celebrating the start of one of Decatur's most recent transformational developments where walkability, connection, and enduring quality define a new chapter for Decatur, AL.

After years of planning and collaboration, South Brook is moving from vision to reality. The approximately 80-acre neighborhood will transform the former Decatur Country Club into a vibrant, walkable community featuring homes, neighborhood retail, restaurants, offices, parks, trails, and gathering spaces designed to serve generations to come.

Over the next 10 to 15 years, South Brook is expected to generate an estimated:
- $1 billion in total construction activity
- Nearly $4 million in annual tax revenue
- Over $40 million in private investment
These investments will strengthen Decatur's economy while delivering critical infrastructure improvements, expanding housing opportunities, and creating a neighborhood designed around connection, walkability, and lasting community.
