Chamber Welcomes New Decatur City Schools Educators

The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Decatur City Schools' newest educators during the annual New Teacher Welcome Breakfast on July 30 at First Baptist Church.

The breakfast celebrated teachers and administrators preparing for the 2026-27 school year while providing an opportunity for community leaders to officially welcome them. Superintendent Dr. Michael Douglas introduced the district's school principals, who each welcomed the newest members of their school communities in their own creative way. Some of the district's youngest students also helped welcome the new teachers, while Woodmeade Elementary lived up to its motto of being "BAD (in a GOOD way)" with an energetic dance entrance.

The Chamber wishes all Decatur City Schools educators, administrators and staff a successful school year. The first day of class is Thursday, August 6.

Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Nucor Steel Decatur, and our gold sponsors, Alabama Education Association, Cook Museum of Natural Science, Cullman Regional and North Alabama Pepsi, for supporting this annual event.
