Chamber and Calhoun Host Third Annual Healthcare Education Camp

The Chamber partnered with Calhoun Community College June 16–17 to host the third annual Healthcare Education Camp, a two-day, hands-on experience introducing students to career opportunities in the healthcare industry.
This year’s camp welcomed 23 students in grades 9–12 and provided an inside look at all nine programs within Calhoun’s Health Sciences Division. Students then traveled to the Huntsville Campus for a tour and interactive sessions in medical lab technician and respiratory therapy.
The Chamber also partnered with the Morgan County Schools Rural Development Park (RDP) to host a one-day Healthcare Camp on June 18. RDP, a partnership between Morgan County Schools and Calhoun Community College, provides students with hands-on career training opportunities.
During the camp, students participated in hands-on learning experiences in nursing, EMS, physical therapy, dental assisting and medical laboratory assisting led by Calhoun Community College instructors.
