Applications Now Open for the Chamber’s Excellence in Leadership Program

The Chamber is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 class of Excellence in Leadership, presented by Nucor Steel Decatur. Since 1987, Excellence in Leadership has helped develop and connect existing and emerging leaders throughout Decatur-Morgan County. The program provides participants with opportunities to grow personally and professionally while gaining a deeper understanding of the community through leadership development, networking and hands-on experiences.

The class meets one day each month for 10 months, with sessions focused on areas that impact our community including healthcare, economic development, education, tourism, government, law enforcement and social services. Participants also work together on a community service project supporting a local non-profit organization.

More than 1,200 professionals have graduated from Excellence in Leadership since the program began. Applicants must be Chamber members or employed by a Chamber member organization.
