Lockheed Martin Celebrates Opening of New Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Courtland

Chamber member Lockheed Martin celebrated an exciting milestone with the opening of its new Missile Assembly Building 5 (MAB-5) in Courtland on June 1, 2026.

The 88,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility expands Lockheed Martin’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and supports production of the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI). The facility incorporates advanced technology, digital engineering and modern manufacturing processes designed to support the future of defense.

Chamber President & CEO Crystal Brown attended the ribbon cutting to celebrate alongside the Lockheed Martin team and recognize the company’s continued investment in North Alabama.

Lockheed Martin has been part of North Alabama’s aerospace and defense industry for decades, with operations in Courtland dating back to 1994. Congratulations to the entire Lockheed Martin team on this milestone and their continued impact across North Alabama.
