April SuperStar Teacher: Celebrating Lauren Allred at Austin High School
Lauren Allred, a 10th–12th grade Family and Consumer Science teacher at Austin High School, has been named the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce’s SuperStar Teacher for April.
Our presenting sponsor, Hubbard & Drake General-Mechanical Contractors, Inc. represented by Brian Beidleman, our April monthly sponsor, Decatur Coca-Cola Bottling Company represented by Luke Davis, Mrs. Allred’s family, and Chamber staff, surprised Mrs. Allred with a $150 gift card for her classroom, a $50 gift card for personal use and a $1,000 grant awarded to Austin High School from the Chamber’s One Vision Foundation.
“One of Lauren’s greatest strengths is her use of innovative, project-based learning. Students regularly participate in real-life simulations such as budgeting for independent living, meal planning within dietary guidelines, entrepreneurship projects and collaborative culinary labs. These activities encourage critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving while fostering independence and responsibility. Lauren also integrates technology into her instruction through digital planning tools, online research projects and interactive presentations, allowing students to engage with content in modern and meaningful ways” wrote Principal Demond Garth in his nomination.
The Chamber’s SuperStar Teacher program celebrates educators who make a significant impact on their students, colleagues, and communities. This initiative is part of the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to recognizing and supporting outstanding educators in Decatur-Morgan County. The One Vision Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, funds these grants through the generous support of our Chamber members.
