Morgan County Courthouse to Reopen April 6 Following Temporary Closure for Renovations

The Morgan County Courthouse will reopen to the public on Monday, April 6, as renovation work continues on the building. The facility has been closed since mid-February while crews completed electrical system upgrades as part of ongoing improvements to the 51-year-old courthouse.

Visitors are asked to park in the Cain Street (north) or Line Street (west) lots and enter the building through the second-floor entrance on the Cain Street side.

Officials note that the Lee Street entrance will remain closed for several more weeks as additional upgrades are completed.

“We want to thank the public for its patience during these upgrades,” said Morgan County Commission Chairman Ray Long. “The public will notice a few changes in the building, and most of the work on the interior has been completed.”

The courthouse and county offices will be closed Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday, a state holiday.
