Hiring Event Generates 603 Interviews, Advances 369 Job Seekers

The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce partnered with AIDT and Career Connect to host a regional Hiring Event on February 10 at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion in Decatur, connecting job seekers with local employers and workforce opportunities.

The event reached 711 job seekers, with 429 attendees participating on site. Throughout the afternoon, employers conducted 603 total interviews, with 369 individuals advancing to the next step in the hiring process. These results represent a 65% increase over our previous largest hiring event held in Decatur in 2025, demonstrating continued workforce demand.

Attendees were able to print digital resumes and engage with employers through Career Connect and will continue receiving communications from employers through the platform after the event. Event data also showed that 52% of attendees indicated they are not currently in the labor force, highlighting the importance of outreach efforts that reconnect individuals with employment.

AIDT and Career Connect in Alabama continue to collaborate as key partners in workforce development, frequently hosting hiring events and connecting job seekers with employers. AIDT provides training and recruitment services, while Career Connect offers digital tools for resumes, job matching, and direct communication with employers.

“This hiring event demonstrates what strong partnerships between workforce organizations, employers, and the Chamber can accomplish,” said Amber Fortenberry, Director of Talent Development and Recruitment for the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. “Connecting job seekers to career opportunities with local business and industry remains a top priority for our community.”

Initial feedback from participating companies was overwhelmingly positive. Nucor Towers and Structures and ITW Sexton praised the pre-screening process, which helped ensure qualified candidates. Wayne Sanderson Farms reported a strong turnout and expects to fill most of their open positions, while Magic Steel shared the event was more effective than traditional employment services.

The Chamber will continue working with regional workforce partners to host hiring events and support employer talent needs throughout the year. Job seekers can register on the Career Connect platform to apply for job openings by clicking here.
