Spirit of America Festival Celebrates 53 Years

(News release) An incredible lineup of performers and one of the largest and most spectacular firework shows are on the agenda for this year’s Spirit of America Festival. Now in its 53rd year, the annual celebration honors the contributions of Americans, both past and present, who have dedicated their lives to the preservation of our freedoms both at home and abroad.

The festival, which began at the height of the Vietnam War in 1967, boasts a prestigious and rich history. The Spirit of America has featured top-name entertainers, Miss America winners, and even then-President Ronald Reagan attending this historic event. The Spirit of America event is more than just a celebration; it’s a day to appreciate the freedoms that create lasting memories for the community.

Excitement has grown since the announcement of two headline hit-making country recording artists, Frankie Ballard and Easton Corbin. Non-stop live music begins at 1:00 p.m. and also includes performances by Ally Free and The Roads Below. The day’s festivities conclude with the biggest fireworks display ever during the 53 years of this storied North Alabama festival at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Frankie Ballard has charted eight singles on the Hot Country Songs charts. Easton Corbin has been gracing stages with his memorable baritone voice and unique blend of traditional and modern country music. Ever since Corbin’s debut single “I Can’t Decide,” his sound has shined with his neotraditional style. The Florida native’s impressive career boasts number-one hits such as “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It.” With seven Top Ten singles to his credit and being named Billboard Magazine’s 2010 “Top New Country Artist,” Corbin performs to sold-out audiences wherever he goes. Corbin’s current single “Marry That Girl” has received great critical acclaim.

The fun begins at 1:00 p.m. with an endless array of family-friendly activities, including arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, a car show, an inflatable kid’s zone, Touch-A-Truck, a hot dog eating contest, and much more! All activities take place in Point Mallard Park in Decatur on the Spirt of America field.
