2024 Legislative Update Addresses Successes, Challenges of Recent Session

On June 4, the Chamber hosted nearly 200 attendees at our 2024 Legislative Update. This event provided a valuable platform for the business community to engage with the Morgan County Delegation and discuss the most recent legislative session in Montgomery. The forum included topics such as healthcare, education, workforce development and new projects on the way to Decatur and Morgan County.

The Chamber is thankful for the relationship we have with the Morgan County Delegation and the work they do on our behalf in Montgomery. Thank you to Senator Arthur Orr, Representative Terri Collins, Representative Parker Moore, and Representative Scott Stadthagen for their participation. Rep. Ernie Yarbrough was unable to attend. The Chamber would also like to thank Wade Weaver, general manager of Adams Beverages and chair of the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee, for being our moderator.

The Chamber has an active public policy committee that advocates for legislation to foster a healthy business community. Part of that work is the development of our public policy agenda, which our membership assists in developing. It is used as a guideline for positions taken by the Chamber on a host of policy issues.
