May SuperStar Teacher: Celebrating Shana Bryson at Brewer High School

Mrs. Shana Bryson, a 12th grade AP Government and Economics teacher at Brewer High School in Somerville, is the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce's SuperStar Teacher for May. Our presenting sponsor, Hubbard & Drake General - Mechanical Contractors, Inc., represented by Brian Beidleman, along with Chamber staff, surprised Mrs. Bryson with two gift cards—one for her classroom and one for personal use. Thank you to our May sponsor Shawn D. Garth, Realtor.

The nomination received by the Chamber from Brewer High School Assistant Principal Brooke Hudson celebrated Mrs. Bryson’s dedication and creativity in the classroom. It reads in part, “Outside of senior instruction, Mrs. Bryson sponsors our Brewer High School Ambassadors. She works tirelessly with the group to prepare them for service to both the school and the community. Each summer they meet for a leadership day where they learn everything from introductions and handshakes to service. Then, the group immediately begins by serving around campus in preparation for the upcoming year. Throughout the year, they sponsor numerous service projects and volunteer with organizations like Barrels of Love. They have been asked to come back year after year because the organizers are always impressed with our students. Mrs. Bryson leads by example and helps instill character and leadership within the Ambassadors. She truly models the ideals of reaching for greatness and always leaving something better than you found it. She strives for excellence in every area. She always puts the needs of students first while expecting their best. She wants the best for Brewer High School. She cheers for our students and goes out of her way to help them be successful. She has recently taken over sponsoring Senior Day, and she also facilitates our Awards Day ceremonies. She is a team player in every sense of the word.”

"You just try to do your best every day to make an impact for positive change on kids and for someone to notice and recognize, it’s very humbling,” said Shana Bryson.

The Chamber kicked off this initiative in January, and we are excited to recognize outstanding educators like Mrs. Bryson who not only make learning fun but also leave a lasting impact on their students and community. Throughout the year, we'll continue to surprise and honor educators in Decatur-Morgan County who exemplify excellence in teaching and inspire those around them.
