Local Employers Connect with Job Seekers at Hiring Event

Following the 2024 Career & Workforce Expo on February 6, the public was invited to attend a Hiring Event at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion from 2:30 to 6 p.m. This event, in partnership with AIDT, Alabama Works!, Calhoun Community College and the Morgan County Economic Development Association, featured 25 local companies with open positions. More than 350 job seekers from across North Alabama were able to learn about available job openings and participate in on-site interviews.

The companies included: Alabama Farmers Cooperative, Asahi Kasei, Bank Independent, Contractor Service & Fabrication, Inc., Cook Museum of Natural Science, Cook's Pest Control, the City of Decatur, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Decatur Housing Authority, D&L Inc., Every Step ABA Services,  First Solar, Fite Building Company, GE Aerospace, GE Appliances, a Haier company, Hubbard & Drake General - Mechanical Contractors, Inc., Jack Daniel Cooperage, Lee Company, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, U.S.A, Inc., M & D Mechanical Contractors, Morgan County System of Services, NARCOG, Nucor Steel Decatur, Redstone Federal Credit Union and YKTA.

At the event, we introduced our new-to-the-region hiring platform, Career Connect. The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce is committed to enhancing workforce development with this tool as part of our five-year initiative. Companies can post job openings at no cost, access job seekers' digital resumes through a secure employer dashboard and communicate instantly with potential candidates.
