January SuperStar Teacher: Celebrating Christy Williams of Eastwood Elementary School

Mrs. Christy Williams, a 3rd-grade teacher at Eastwood Elementary School in Decatur, was recognized as the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce's SuperStar Teacher for January. With 25 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Williams stands as a role model for her students and colleagues alike.

The nomination received by the Chamber celebrated Mrs. Williams' unwavering commitment to bell-to-bell instruction and her extensive use of instructional methods and strategies to ensure the success of each of her students. It goes on to read, "Christy does not waste a single minute of instruction in her classroom. You will often see her delivering small-group, and one-on-one instruction. Many times she will use her planning period to make certain a student has mastered grade-level standards and skills. She readily volunteers for after-school tutoring, various committees and any other endeavor which advances the academic and social-emotional success of her students."

On January 31, our presenting sponsor, Hubbard & Drake General - Mechanical Contractors, Inc., represented by Brian Beidleman, along with Chamber staff, surprised Mrs. Williams with two gift cards—one for her classroom and one for her personal use."

“It feels good to know that your hard work and the love and dedication you put into the classroom is noticed,” said Mrs. Williams.

As we kick off the new year, we are thrilled to launch this initiative to recognize outstanding educators like Mrs. Williams who not only make learning fun but also leave a lasting impact on their students and community. Throughout the year, we'll continue to surprise and honor educators in Decatur-Morgan County who exemplify excellence in teaching and inspire those around them.
