Connect with Local Employers at February 6 Hiring Event

The event will take place on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion, located at 802-A Wilson Street NW, Decatur, AL.

This event, in partnership with AIDT, Alabama Works!, Calhoun Community College and the Morgan County Economic Development Association, will bring together approximately 25 local companies with open positions. Attendees will have the opportunity to network, learn about available job openings and participate in on-site interviews. Companies in attendance include Alabama Farmers Cooperative, Cook's Pest Control, Decatur Morgan Hospital, First Solar, Fite Building Company, GE Appliances, a Haier company, Jack Daniel Cooperage, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, U.S.A, Inc., M & D Mechanical Contractors, Nucor Steel Decatur, Redstone Federal Credit Union, , YKTA and more.

We are also unveiling our new-to-the-region hiring platform called Career Connect at this year's Hiring Event. There are thousands of job seekers in the Career Connect process and it has connected over 5,500 job seekers with gainful employment in another region of the state. It connects people seeking employment with their next career opportunity.

Job seekers attending the event are encouraged to pre-register on the Career Connect platform at www.northalabamajobs.com/JOB. The process is simple! Complete your digital resume, apply for open positions and receive 24/7 support. If you do not pre-register, you will register upon arrival. All attendees will have their digital resumes printed at the event and will be able to receive communications from employers after the event through the platform. Anyone who’s looking for a job in North Alabama can register for Career Connect, whether they attend the event or not.

"We are excited to be able to connect our local companies with qualified workers who are unemployed, underemployed or are in need of a second career chance," said Amber Fortenberry, Director of Talent Development & Recruitment for the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. "By utilizing the Career Connect platform, we are able to continue enhancing workforce development in our region as part of our five-year strategic initiative.”

The registration process for employers on Career Connect is also simple, taking less than five minutes. Companies can post all their active positions at no cost and access job seekers' digital resumes through a secure employer dashboard and communicate instantly with potential candidates. To register your company for the Career Connect platform, visit www.northalabamajobs.com/job-connect/employer-login or email hglenn@northalabamaworks.com for assistance.
