Member Spotlight –Party Central, Inc.

Welcome to the Chamber's Member Spotlight series where we take a moment to highlight one of our business members. Our feature company for September and October was Party Central, Inc. We spoke with with owner Courtney Creighton to find out more about her business.

What year was your business founded?

It was founded in 1997 by Nancy Simmers. I joined the team at age 16 and worked through high school and college. I then sold insurance with State Farm for seven years before purchasing Party Central in 2018.

Describe your organization, including the history and services you provide?

We are a party supply store that does so much more than just sell party supplies and balloons. We specialize in balloon decorating, of course,  but also offer personalized banners, invitations, posters, sashes and other printing needs.

What makes you and your organization stand out?

Our customer service! We make sure to greet each customer and try to help them however we can for their event, party or any other occasion they may have going on. We listen to what you are looking for and make sure to offer every avenue that we can.

How has your organization changed in the last year?

We are seeing less items moving off the shelf like plates and napkins and more focus on balloons, personalized banners and the other personalized items that we offer.

What do you see for the future of your company?

We are currently in the process of expanding our printing services and will be printing more t-shirts, napkins and other items in the very near future.

What advice would you offer to someone looking for the type of services your organization provides?

If you are looking for something random and not sure where to look, contact us and we can probably help.

What are you most proud of when it comes to the company?

I'm proud to carry on a business that has been in Decatur for more than 25 years now, although I  feel many do not know we are here.

What keeps you motivated/encouraged in your job?

My customers! Some days are really rough and business may be slow but then a customer lets me know how much we helped them recently or in the past and still thank us for what we do.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who is starting their own business?

Never give up even when it seems things are going downhill.
