Chamber president announces staff reassignment
Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO John Seymour announced today Crystal Brown will assume the position of vice president of development for the Chamber, where she will address our area’s residential growth needs as part of the organization’s “The Partnership” initiative.
“Crystal will continue to work on commercial development while leading our staff effort to support our volunteer leadership in residential growth,” said Seymour. “Our community is in need of an increase in residential inventory, everything from single family housing to new apartments to lofts. She has a solid track record of growing our retail market and will successfully address this need for residential growth.”
The Chamber’s five-year initiative – known as “The Partnership” – is a community and business development strategy where the Board of Directors and teams of business leaders will focus on making strides in four critical areas: residential development; regional partnerships and community image; business and industry-driven talent development and recruitment; and business and industry partnerships with education.
Brown joined the Chamber staff in February 2012. Prior to this new assignment, she served as the Chamber’s vice president of business and investor development. Before joining the staff, she was a long-time volunteer, board member, and executive committee member. Brown was elected Chairwoman of the Board and served the 2003-2004 term. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She and her husband, Murphy, have three daughters, a granddaughter and live in Decatur.
