Chamber, Ascend Performance Materials partner on mask donation and distribution for Small Business Saturday, shopping season
The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce today announced a partnership with Ascend Performance Materials in Decatur for the donation and distribution of Ascend’s newly designed face masks to Morgan County small businesses as they prepare for Small Business Saturday Nov. 28 and the holiday shopping season.
The Acteev Protect Reusable Nonwoven General Purpose Masks are free to area businesses looking to protect their workforce and customers during the pandemic and flu season. Acteev Protect masks are washable, reusable up to 10 times, and Acteev’s antimicrobial technology kills off germs that cause the masks to pick up bad odors. Testing shows the Acteev technology deactivates harmful bacteria and airborne viruses. The masks are made in the U.S.A., and some of the components are manufactured at Ascend’s Decatur plant.
The Chamber will provide one box of masks (a total of 25 individual masks) to each interested Morgan County small business until supplies run out. The masks will be available at the Chamber office – 515 6th Ave. in Decatur – starting Monday, Nov. 23 during normal business hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. And in the interest of promoting Decatur-Morgan County small businesses, Ascend asks that you post a photo with an Acteev mask on social media, tag @acteevbyascend, use the hashtag #BigSupportsSmall, and your shop will be highlighted during Small Business Saturday and the holiday shopping season.
“Small businesses need to stay open, and the way that happens is by customers respecting their neighbors by wearing a mask and social distancing, as well as the small businesses protecting the health of their workforce,” said Chamber President and CEO John Seymour. “Ascend has been a long-time supporter of the Chamber, and their generosity in giving back like this will make a difference to small businesses by mitigating the cost of personal protective equipment during these challenging times. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to supporting small businesses and communities across the country during the holiday shopping season. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
