Partners-in-Education
The Partners-In-Education program links area businesses and industries with schools in Decatur, Hartselle and Morgan County to provide educational opportunities for the students and increase the awareness of area businesses and industries. Partnerships also heighten awareness of present and future job needs, help improve the education of future employees and customers, and increases understanding of the quality and needs of public school systems, whose health is vital to the community’s economic well being.
Educational Enhancement
The educational enhancement sub-committee ensures the education system and the business community work together to prepare students for advanced and emerging technologies in the workforce of the future. This sub-committee also continues to support the Career Coach initiative. Career Coaches strive to map a career path for all 8th – 12th graders in order to help students reach their potential.
The Leader in Me
The Leader in Me program is a public-private partnership between the Chamber, Decatur City Elementary Schools, local government and business entities and the Franklin Covey Company. The program, which is the first The Leader in Me pilot project in the United States, will implement the principals of the 7 Habits for Highly Effective People into the schools. The program is designed to teach students and faculty to become proactive, results-oriented and to understand the value and synergy of working together as a team.
